Setting Up FedEx V2

How to connect your FedEx account and utilize the new FedEx V2 integration.

FedEx has launched a new and improved API we refer to as FedEx V2. FedEx will be shutting down FedEx V1, which requires all accounts to migrate to the new FedEx V2 version.

Unlike the old version, V2 requires you to validate your billing address and then complete FedEx's identity verification (a one-time security step) before you can ship.

Here's how to switch over.

Edit your existing FedEx carrier account

To edit your existing FedEx account and get it on V2 ...

  1. Go to Settings → Shipping → Carrier Accounts.

  2. Find your FedEx account and click the pencil icon.

  3. Change the FedEx Version to V2.

Address Validation

The next step is validating the address you have on file with FedEx.

It may be helpful during this step to login to your FedEx.com account and copy and paste the address on file there.

Tip: The country should be two characters. US = United States, CA = Canada, etc.

Once you've added your address, check I agree to FedEx Terms & Conditions and hit the Validate button.

If this part isn't successful, be sure to login to FedEx.com and confirm the address matches.

Identity Verification

The final step is verifying your identity via text message, call, e-mail or invoice. We recommend verifying with an Invoice, which you can find on FedEx.com or FedEx may have mailed one to you.

The invoice verification asks for four (4) pieces of info. Here are some tips for filling out those fields:

  • The Invoice Number should just be the value, No spaces or dashes.

  • The invoice Date should follow the format YYYY-MM-DD

  • The invoice Amount should not include the $ symbol, just numbers and a decimal.

  • The Currency code should be 3 characters. The US Dollar would be USD.

Hit Validate. Once successful, hit Save at the bottom of the page.

All Done!

You should be able to get rates and ship with the new V2 account.
